Happy Monday, friends! Anyone else think this weekend just FLEW by? One second I was driving home from work Friday evening and the next thing I know, it’s 4pm on Sunday. But I can’t complain too much because I did have today off! I finally had my apartment deep cleaned, did lots of laundry, and rested because let’s be real…I. AM. SO. SORE. I ran my FOURTH half marathon yesterday and it kicked my booty!! Here are a few snaps from this past weekend.
Ian was out of town for his 5-year college reunion, so I had the apartment to myself the whole weekend. Since I am usually the one out of town, this was super weird! I don’t do well with alone time (I’m working on it!), so I spent lots of time watching How I Met Your Mother and baking. Above is the picture of some yummy chocolate chip banana bread that I enjoyed for dessert the night before the San Jose Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. Speaking of which, the other half of my Saturday was spent going to the expo with some friends. We picked up our bibs downtown, had a big Italian lunch, and then ice cream…because why not?!
The next morning we were up bright and early! I still haven’t gotten used to the fact that while it may be 50 degrees when you wake up, it will be over 80 just a few hours later! Oh California weather.
Aaanndd we did it! Thankfully the course was flat, but I still struggled during this one for some reason (mmm…it was definitely my lack of training). But we finished and that’s all that matters 🙂 Now onto the next one…maybe in a few months. But if you are curious to what training program I use, the Hal Higdon ones are the BEST. You can move things around to fit your schedule, but I find the mileage really gets you prepared.
After the race, we enjoyed some burgers and beer at Eureka! in Mountain View. YUM. It hit the spot. Then I plugged in my new diffuser, put some lavender essential oils in, and stayed in bed the rest of the day. Basically the best Sunday ever!
And speaking of the BEST…here are a few things I’ve been loving recently!
I love candles all year long, but during fall and winter, the scents are just amazing! Bath and Body Works keeps having the best sales too, so of course I HAD to get more. Funny story actually…I ordered a few more secretly (because Ian thinks I buy too many ha!) BUT the front office lady called him saying we had a bunch of packages to pick up. SO the secret wasn’t so safe anymore. Oh well!
The Best Pants at Loft
So I was at Loft the other day returning a few items and ended up in the dressing room trying on a few more (story of my life!). I picked up these Leggings in Sateen Five Pocket and oh my goodness they are good. They say “legging” but I’d say they are just the softest pants ever. I actually ended up ordering another pair after wearing them out one night. Perfect for fall!
My First Diffuser
I always read so much about essential oils and diffusers so I finally hopped on the bandwagon! I bought this diffuser on Amazon and proceeded to buy the lavender Doterra essential oil. So far, so good! I am hoping for better sleep and maybe a little help with my dry skin. The smell is AMAZING though and I’ll keep y’all posted on any of the other benefits I notice.
Have a HAPPY week y’all.
